Kite festival is a popular festival in India which takes place during Makar Sankranti. The festival is celebrated by people flying kites from their rooftops. Reena and Ravi are also flying kites to enjoy the festival. The height of Reena's kite is 60 m above the ground. The string attached to the kite is temporarily tied to a point on the ground, and the inclination of the string with the ground is 30°. Ravi is flying a kite from a 10 m high building. His kite is also flying 60 m above the ground and the length of the string used by Ravi is same as that of Reena's. θ is the angle of elevation of Ravi's kite from a point on the rooftop.
In the given figure, the angle of elevation of point A from point C is :
From a point on the ground, the angle of elevation of the bottom and the top of a transmission tower fixed at the top of a 20 m high building are 45° and 60° respectively. Find the height of the tower.
The angle of elevation of a ladder leaning against a wall is 60° and the foot of the ladder is 9·5 m away from the wall. Find the length of the ladder.
In Figure 2, the angles of elevation of the top of a tower AB of height 'h' m, from two points P and Q at a distance of x m and y m from the base of the tower respectively and in the same straight line with it, are 60° and 30°, respectively. Prove that h² = xy.
The following TV Tower was built in 1988 and is located in Pitampura, Delhi. It has an observation deck. Observe the picture given below : The TV Tower stands vertically on the ground. From a point 'A' on the ground, the angle of elevation of top of the tower (point 'B') is 60°. There is a point 'C' on the tower which is 78 m (approx.) above the ground. The angle of elevation of the point C from point A is found to be 30°.
